Hey, everybody! Well, right now I'm in the middle of school being canceled, a morning of no electricity at the restaurant and a honkin' messy house. But guess what? I got some good news on Monday night when I found out that I won a t-shirt design contest over at ashirtforeverything.com!!! You can see the post announcing that I won here, but I've also included a picture of my entry:

I was just tickled pink about winning! So, I get to judge the next contest (and pick the topic - which I have chosen, but Casey hasn't announced it yet). Such fun! It brightened up this otherwise icy and miserable week!

It was like workin' in a sweatshop!

Well, let me tell you about the past two weeks in regards to my t shirt shops. CafePress added some dark sweatshirts and hoodies. I was (and still am) very excited about it. The dark hoodies sell well on Zazzle, and I know they'll do well over at CP. I added them to my shops a couple of weeks ago. I have one, very large, job/occupation shop. I had to go in and tweak 2/3 of the designs I have for the sweatshirts. Then I added them to my other stores, Brainlintdotnet and PeaceLoveand( <--- that shop needs some love!). I worked on it whenever I could. At the mall when my kids were at the birthday parties. At home while they were watching a movie. After they went to bed and I stayed up until 1:30. Well, I'm finally done! Here are some of the sweatshirts:

OH, I just edited this to add that this is my 100th post!!! Yeah for me!

OH, I forgot about a couple of things that happened on Friday.  The bad thing?  My payroll company took the entire payroll amount ($7,000) out of my checking account and paid my employees.  Um, payday is November 2oth.  They took it out SIX days early.  I about threw up when I pulled up my online banking!!!  Luckily the money was in there, but there are a lot of checks floating out there waiting to be cashed.  They fixed their mistake (well, enough where my account would be ok), but that was just another bump in the day.

Later on Friday night, I got an email from Zazzle, and here's the graphic:

I didn't fall asleep. Really.

Well, let's see.  Today is Saturday, and I said that I was going to write again on Thursday night, if I didn't fall asleep.  Well, the bad news is that I didn't write on Thursday (or, depending on whether or not you like to listen to my drivel - that might be the good news).  I did NOT, however, fall asleep with the girls.  I came downstairs and worked.  Yes, I worked and worked.  And not on restaurant stuff, either.  I worked on t shrits.  And it was fun.  I mada a couple of new designs, but this one is one of my not-so-famous quotes:

So, definitely not a wasted evening.  I stayed up until about 1:00 am.  The next night, however, is a different story.  Last night I didn't fall asleep in bed with Becca.  Came downstairs all ready to watch some grown up tv.  Ten minutes later...asleep.  Oh well.  

We went to the book fair at the primary school on Friday morning.  The girls really enjoyed picking out some books (of course they wanted more than the 3 each I let them get!).  As Chloe and I were in the car on the way there, we had an extreme 'Why?' moment.  If you are the parent of a three year old, I'm sure you know what this is.  Every. Single. Answer. Gets. A. Why.

Here's how the conversation basically went:

"Mom, can i feed Mackie (the fish) when we get home?"

"Sorry, Chlo.  I already fed Mackie today."

"Why?"

"Um, because he was hungry"

"Why?"

"Because everything needs to eat."

"Why?"

"Because if things don't eat, they'll die."

"Why?"

(deep calming breath) "I don't know Chlo.  Because."

Then it gets funny.  Really, Chloe just cracks me up.

'Mom, dead fish go in the potty."

"Right, Chlo"

"But not alive fish.  You can't put alive fish in the potty."

"No, Chloe.  You can't put alive fish in the potty."

"Yeah, because then they would get pee on them."

"Right, Chlo.  They would get pee on them."

Well that satisfied her.  We drive along, bee-bopping to the radio and enjoying the sunshine.  A few minutes later, I get this question.

"Mom, Do fish pee in the water?"

"Well, yeah, Chloe.  Fish pee in the water."

"AAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!"

So, there is some Chloe conversation for ya.

Since this post touched on sleep a little bit, I'm going to share this really interesting stuff about polyphasic sleep.  Polyphasic sleep basically is sleeping for 20 minutes every four hours.  And that's it.  This gentleman actually slept this way for five months.  It was really interesting to read through how it went.  

OK, gotta snack before I go to bed!

Some Twisted Holiday Thoughts

On this, Black Friday, I've created my first Christmas design. Did I go shopping today? Um..NO!!! I spent the day in my comfy clothes at home with the kids. That was after waking up at 2 am to down some Pepto. I'm not used to eating all that food!!! But it was good. Anyway, here's the design for today. I hope it doesn't offend anybody (um, I guess it might offend somebody who's a hoe, but who would really admit it?)

A design for the divas!

OK, here's another design from my brain. I probably would not wear this shirt, but that doesn't mean I don't think it's funny!!! And, I actually know plenty of people who either a) should wear this shirt or b) would wear this shirt. So here it is. It says "I wish I could be you so I could be friends with me."

On an unrelated note...the Steelers got lucky today, and pulled it out in the second half. It made me happy. And, I actually got to watch the game without TOO MANY interruptions from the kids.

OK..new design time. I recently saw a picture of a black and white rainbow and it said 'Straight' underneath. You can see it at T-shirt Hell. By the way...that website is totally funny. Most of their shirts crack me up. There aren't many that I would wear---and my mind is a little cleaner (I guess) when it comes to creating stuff. But it's totally funny. Anyway, back to the new design. I kind of melded two rainbows together, and here's what I got:

Hey...I'm hot! (Well, sort of)

So, I wake up this morning and have two lovely emails from Zazzle. One stating that I designed the Hottest Funny T-shirt of the Day, and one stating that I designed the hottest Sticker of the Day. Go figure. It does make me pretty darn happy, though. The two designs are below...they are the two Halloween Designs I did yesterday. The 'Official Candy Inspector' design also won a Today's Best award (on a tote bag). I just got lots of thumbs up yesterday, which makes me feel fantastic.

I shouldn't be doing this...

Right now I'm supposed to be cleaning my office. I am oh so good at procrastination. The papers are everywhere, kids books on the floor and there are two CD/DVD organizers laying on my desk just waiting to be filled. Everything that needs to go in them is scattered. All over. Oh well.

I have just a few little notes about life over the past week or so. Maybe I'll go in chronological order:

Last Saturday my hubby went to the Pitt game. Home opener. He had a great time and took a cab home. The next day he shows me this beer coozy (you know, to wrap around it and keep it cold). But this one doesn't just say 'Pitt' on it. No...this is a super fantastic invention. And I can't believe that I didn't think of it. It has two really strong magnets on the back of it, and they're covered with a piece of pleather. That way, when you're tailgating you can just put it on the car. It actually holds en entire full can of beer. So simple.........




Sunday night I had girl's night out. Nice dinner at the Grand Concourse, drinks outside at Bar Louie, and then a jaunt into the South Side and we headed to Dee's Cafe. Felt good to get back to drinking and smoking...no matter how bad it might be for me. For just those mere 8 hours I had no responsibility. Nice. Of course, there were 6 moms. What did we (mostly) talk about? Kids and kid/family related stuff.

OK, while I was writing this post here's what happened: I had Chloe (2) come up to me and say 'turds.' She did not have a diaper on. So, I asked "Where?", and she led me to the family room. Diaper on the floor, full o' turds. At least none had wondered onto the carpet. So, I did the whole potty-diaper change thing with her. Then Becca (4) wanted a peanut butter sandwich. Cut into a circle. Of course, then Chloe wants one, too. So I made two peanut butter sandwiches. The point is, if you're reading this you would imagine that I'm sitting at my computer just typing away. Not exactly.

Well, I'll have to catch up on some more later....I'm actually going to start to clean! By the way, if you're looking for Halloween shirts, I've started a new blog at halloweentees.wordpress.com
